Privacy Policy
EFFECTIVE 28 JULY 2026 · APPLIES TO THE SHELFED APP AND SHELFED.CO
Shelfed is a personal catalogue for collectors. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what control you have over it. The short version: your catalogue is yours, we don't run ads or analytics, and we collect nothing we don't need to make the app work.
What we collect
Your email address and a password (or your Google account identity, if you sign in with Google). That's the whole account.
The items you record: names, descriptions, brands, models, collection fields, purchase details, locations, notes, tags — and the photos you attach. All of it exists because you typed or photographed it.
When you lend a piece, we store the borrower's name and, if you choose to link their account, their email address — so the loan can appear in both catalogues.
If you sign up on shelfed.co, your email address — used only to write to you about Shelfed. Unsubscribe by replying, any time.
We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, location data, contacts, or anything from your photo library beyond the photos you explicitly select.
Where it lives
Your account and catalogue are stored with Supabase, our backend provider, in their European Union (Ireland) region. Photos are kept in private storage — they are not publicly accessible, and other users can only see them through the sharing features described below.
AI recognition
When you scan a piece, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini API to identify the item and fill in its details. The photo is transmitted for that single recognition request; Shelfed stores the photo only in your own catalogue. Google's handling of API data is described in Google's Gemini API terms.
Sharing you control
- Households. If you create or join a household, other members can see the items in that household's shared catalogue. Joining always requires your explicit confirmation.
- Lending. If you link a loan to a borrower's account, they see that item as borrowed in their own catalogue for the duration of the loan.
Outside of these, nobody sees your catalogue.
What we never do
- No selling or renting your data, to anyone, ever.
- No advertising, no ad networks, no tracking SDKs.
- No training AI models on your photos or catalogue.
Notifications
Warranty and loan reminders are scheduled locally on your device. They don't pass through our servers.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time:
- Edit or delete any item, photo, or loan directly in the app.
- Delete your account and all associated data by emailing privacy@shelfed.co from your account address — we complete deletion within 30 days.
- If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you additionally have the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — the same email address handles all of them.
Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting an item deletes its photos from storage. Deleting your account removes everything.
Children
Shelfed is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
